BSc Sociology with Law
Entry Requirements
Applicants must be at least 17 years old and either have passes in:
• Two subjects at GCE 'A' level, and at least three further subjects at GCSE/GCE 'O' level at Grade C or above
or
• Three subjects at GCE 'A' level (with one 'A' level at not less than Grade D)
or
• Three subjects at GCE 'A' level and one further subject at GCSE/GCE 'O' level at Grade C or above
or
• Two subjects at GCE 'A' level, plus two further subjects at GCE 'AS' level
and
• Demonstrate competence in Mathematics at least equivalent to GCSE/GCE 'O' level at Grade C or above
and
• provide proof of competence in English. A test of proficiency may be required.

Aims of the course
• An opportunity to develop skills in the close reading of key texts that have shaped the discipline of sociology, an introduction to the key methods that sociologists use to research all aspects of social life.
• A wide range of units which allow you to explore how and why societies have developed in the ways that they have, important questions about the nature of sociological research, as well as ideas about social action and social development and change.
• An opportunity to develop an understanding of the principal features of law and to understand the operation of the law in a wider social context.

Entry requirements
In addition to meeting the entry requirements for the standard route, applicants must hold a full first degree completed in a minimum of three years duration on a
full-time basis (or equivalent) from a university or other institution acceptable to the University of London.
Applicants holding professional and/or postgraduatequalifications without a full first degree will not be considered for the admission to the Graduate Entry
Route.
